Grilled Pork Chops Recipe with Chu Hou Marinade

If you’ve never cooked with Lee Kum Kee Chu Hou Paste before, this grilled pork chops recipe is a great starting place to get to understand the flavors. Chu Hou Paste is made from fermented soybean, sesame paste, and spices, adding a deep umami and complex flavor to marinades and braises. 


This simple pork chop marinade will take the flavor to the next level. To keep things fresh on the side, there’s roasted potatoes and a simple side salad with a dressing featuring Lee Kum Kee Premium Soy Sauce. These dishes should let the Chu Hou pork chops shine while adding a balance to the entire meal.

How to make it

  1. Combine Lee Kum Kee Chu Hou Paste, Lee Kum Kee Minced Garlic, brown sugar, Dijon mustard, lemon zest, and lemon juice into a paste. Rub over pork chops and transfer to a plastic bag or marinating container. Marinate for at least an hour.
  2. During the marinade time, toss your potatoes in a tablespoon of oil and salt and pepper to season. Preheat an oven to 400 degrees Fahrenheit and roast for 40-45 minutes. Remove from oven to cool.
  3. Take out the pork chops and let slack out at room temperature for at least 20 minutes. During this time, combine olive oil, lemon juice and zest, Lee Kum Kee Premium Soy Sauce, and salt and pepper to taste to make a quick dressing. 
  4. Remove excess marinade from pork chops and grill on high heat for 3-4 minutes each side. Let rest for 1-2 minutes before transferring to a serving platter.
  5. Add arugula and tomatoes to a bowl and toss with the dressing. Transfer potatoes from oven tray to a separate serving bowl and serve potatoes and salad with the pork chops. Enjoy!
